Lauren Book was first elected to the Florida Senate in 2016 and reelected in 2022, and currently serves as the current Minority Leader. She has consistently demonstrated her commitment to fighting against the growing far-right influence in Tallahassee.

Senator Book has fearlessly championed progressive values and policies, working tirelessly to protect the rights and well-being of Floridians in the face of opposition from the far right.
Throughout her tenure, she has passionately advocated for inclusive and equitable legislation, while pushing back against regressive policies that undermine the principles of fairness, justice, and equality.

Lucy has dedicated her career to building movements and training the next generation of Democratic leadership.

In 2020, she led Colorado’s Abortion Access for All campaign, a state-wide coalition that defeated a high-profile initiative to ban abortion later in pregnancy.

Through her work, Lucy has trained hundreds of organizers, campaign staff and candidates. She served as National Training Director for Warren for President and National Training Director for the Progressive Change Campaign Committee, where she taught Democratic candidates at all levels how to run and win campaigns. Lucy is based in St. Petersburg, FL.
